The Appleton fire department tied the record for the fewest fires during its annual Keep the Wreath Green campaign.
There was only one fire during the holiday season, and it happened several hours after the campaign started in late November. The dishwasher fire caused a limited amount of damage.
The department put wreaths outside of every fire station, and the green bulbs are turned to red ones whenever there’s a fire. There was also only one fire in 2011.
There were 14 fires in Green Bay, during that department’s campaign.
