After making some changes to appease neighbors, construction on a new electrical substation will get underway this month in Combined Locks.
Kaukauna Utilities General Manager Jeff Feldt says they’re putting a decorative wall around it, instead of chain-link fencing. He says they also moved the substation farther away from the street, and they’ll put in landscaping that should help hide it.
The cost of the project is more than $6 million. That’s about $600,000 over the initial budget.
The substation will be on Jansen Street, across from the Midwest Paper Group’s mill.
