The Town of Freedom will move forward with building a new Fire and EMS Department.
People in the town had an opportunity to vote on the issue last night at a special board meeting.
That vote was 337 for and 265 against.
The original cost of the building was more than $5 million dollars but Fire Chief Mark Green says they whittled that down to $3.9 million.
The fire department is currently connected to the Town Hall.
The new fire station will be located on Highway E and Schmidt Road.
Owners of a home valued at $100,000 can expect to pay an additional $48 dollars annually on their property taxes.
Green hopes to break ground on the project in spring and move in by the end of the year.
