The Appleton city council will lose two of its most-experienced members this spring.
Three incumbents decided not to run for another two-year term, including the longest-serving member, Ald. Cathy Spears. She was first elected in 2004, and when her term is done, she’ll have been on the council for 16 years.
Ald. Chris Croatt joined the council in 2008, and he’s not seeking re-election after 12 years in office. He’s tied with Ald. Joe Martin for the second-longest tenure.
Ald. Christine Williams decided not to run, following six years on the council.
The turnover comes at the same time Mayor Tim Hanna will leave office after 24 years.
Seven council seats will be on the ballot in April, and there are five contested races.
