The suspect in a shooting at a downtown Appleton bar is pleading no contest to several charges.
More than 2-1/2 years after a bystander was killed, 36-year-old Henry Nellum of Milwaukee was convicted of felony murder.
He’s accused of firing at least one shot at a man during a bar fight at Jack’s Apple Pub, in May of 2017. That brought Police Lt. Jay Steinke into the bar, and he accidentally shot a bystander, 33-year-old Jimmy Sanders of Milwaukee.
Prosecutors say Steinke was firing at Nellum, but he was being pushed by people, near a door.
Besides the felony murder charge for the death of Sanders, Nellum was also found guilty of reckless endangerment, and three gun charges. He’ll be sentenced in April.
