Alaskan resident Curtis Phelps was taking out the trash earlier this month when he noticed something in his peripheral vision… a large bull moose walking directly toward him.
Knowing how aggressive the animal could be, Phelps quickly shut himself inside his backyard shed and immediately called his wife Amy.
Amy ignored his call. Curtis then tried dialing his 13-year-old daughter, who was asleep in her bedroom. She also ignored her phone, because teenagers. Amy finally picked up on Curtis’ next attempt to call, at which point she realized he was trapped in the shed.
Using the family’s doorbell camera, she confirmed that the moose had made its way across the street, allowing Curtis to run back into the house.
The family believe this moose may be the same that was birthed in their backyard two years ago and that he’s been returning regularly to check out his old stomping grounds. He once ate a Christmas wreath, they say. This time, however, he only did minor damage to the shed.
