Appleton officials could change how a piece of art goes into a neighborhood.
The Community and Economic Development Committee voted yesterday to require notification of all property owners within 100 feet of a proposed art project.
This is in response to controversy over a sculpture at the west end of the College Avenue Bridge.
Some neighbors don’t like it there and say they weren’t notified it was going to be put up.
Some who support the change feel the community should not have the right to veto specific works.
The Public Arts Committee still has to sign off on the policy before it goes before the full council for a vote February 5.
