There are concerns about flooding in Brown County this spring, and leaders want people to be ready just in case.
Lauri Maki of the county’s emergency management department says the high water issue that they’re facing isn’t going to go away overnight. He says even if they don’t get a ton of rain and flooding this year, it could happen the following year.
Sheriff Todd Delain says the water will have to go somewhere, and they could see flooding in areas that haven’t had it in the past.
The county is urging people to find out if they live in a floodplain, consider buying flood insurance, and have a sump pump with a backup battery.
