Assembly Republicans are planning to approve a bill that would create protocols for untested sexual assault kits, with provisions that some Democrats are calling “poison pills.”
Democratic Attorney General Josh Kaul has been working on a system for a year. He’s accusing Majority Republicans in the Legislature of putting two requirements in their own version of the bill to kill it. Those provisions would force police to notify immigration officials of sexual assaults, and let victims enter the private school voucher program.
