Drug investigators in Brown County changed their focus last year, and they think it’s paying off.
Lt. Kevin Kinnard says they worked to find the source of drugs that were coming into the community. They put together three major cases, including the biggest single meth bust in state history. Derek Liebergen had nearly 60 pounds with him, in a Grand Chute hotel room.
Kinnard says that was very unusual, and very time consuming, but also worth it. He says that’s because those people can be held accountable for what they’re doing to the community.
He says by targeting dozens of dealers, they can dismantle the source of certain drugs. He believes meth, the synthetic opioid fentanyl, and cocaine remain the biggest problems in the area.
