Majority Republicans in the Senate will have to wait to vote on their proposal for nearly 400 million dollars in tax cuts.
Democrats blocked a vote yesterday, and called for some of the state’s projected budget surplus to go toward public schools.
Majority Leader Scott Fitzgerald prefers the GOP plan with an income tax cut, and another for personal property. The tax cut for the middle class would be worth almost $250 million.
The Assembly is expected to take up that proposal today.
Governor Evers wants to give public schools $250 million and cut school property taxes by $130 million.
