A few months after the gun deer season, hunters are still talking about how plenty of people came home empty-handed.
The DNR says 24 percent fewer deer were shot over the nine days.
Biologist Curt Rollman was at the State Hunting Expo in at the KI Convention Center in Green Bay. He says the late start to the season made a big difference, because gun hunters missed the rut.
He believes the slower gun season helped bow hunters have a better year.
