After 26 years at the Capitol, a state lawmaker will retire at the end of the year.
Republican Sen. Luther Olsen of Ripon decided not to run for re-election in the 14th district. He says it’s been an honor, but it’s time for someone else to take over.
Olsen says the rules he put in place for teen drivers was his biggest accomplishment. He believes the graduated driver’s license system has saved lives.
Olsen is in his fourth, four-year term in the Senate. He was in the Assembly for 10 years before that.
He plans to help with his family’s farm, travel with his wife, and spend more time with his grandchildren.
