Appleton police want to make sure people keep their guns in a safe place, after a three-year-old child was wounded in an accidental shooting.
Officer Meghan Cash says the child got a hold of a gun last week, and it went off. The kid was hit in the hand, and spent a few days in a hospital.
She says it’s a crime to let a child have access to a gun. Police are asking prosecutors to file charges.
Cash says people can pick up free gun locks at the police station in downtown Appleton.
