Just hours before the mass shooting in Milwaukee, Governor Evers called on Republican lawmakers to at least have a discussion about gun laws.
He pushed for universal background checks and a red flag law last year. Evers says those were two common sense solutions on the table, and Republicans wouldn’t even talk about them. He says that’s what’s frustrating to him about politics these days.
Senate Majority Leader Scott Fitzgerald said before the shooting that he believes Republicans in the Legislature are satisfied with what’s in place already. He said the GOP will have the discussion about the 2nd Amendmend “forever.”
