The state will be adding 12 more judges in counties around Wisconsin, over the next three years.
Calumet County could be getting one of them.
Republican Rep. Ron Tusler of Harrison is confident it will happen. He says they built a courtroom for a second court branch 30 years ago, and they’ve been working to get a judge.
Right now, there is only one judge in Calumet County.
Tusler says the population is growing in Appleton, Harrison, and Sherwood, and they need another judge.
Governor Evers signed a bill into law to create four judges a year, over the next three years. A state court official will decide where the judges will be added.
