Catholics in the Green Bay Diocese might notice some changes at mass because of the coronavirus.
The diocese is sending a letter to parishes, telling them to take steps to prevent the spread of illnesses.
Shawn Johnson of the diocese says that includes not offering wine from a chalice, during Communion, for now.
The “sign of peace” will be different. Instead of shaking hands, the diocese wants people to nod their heads.
Bishop David Ricken is letting people out of their obligation to go to mass on Sundays, if they’re sick.
Johnson says they’ve taken similar steps in the past, when there have been concerns about the flu.
