The Green Bay Fire Department is getting 22 backpacks with books to give to children in a crisis situation.
REACH-A-Child donates them to firefighters and first responders around the state.
Lt. Shauna Walesh says they’ll have a backpack in every fire truck and ambulance. She says if a parent has a heart attack or something similar, that’s very traumatic for a child. She believes the backpacks could help distract them from the situation.
REACH-A-Child is also donating 100 books to the fire prevention division. She says they’ll give them away at safety events.
