A controversial sculpture could end up somewhere in downtown Appleton.
City leaders are expected to decide next week, whether to order a group to move “The Collective” from the west end of the College Avenue Bridge.
Sculpture Valley Executive Director Alex Schultz says there are two opportunities for a private site in the downtown. City approval wouldn’t be necessary on private land.
Ald. Patti Coenen supports moving the artwork. She says it’s not about whether they like the piece, hate it, or somewhere in between. She believes it’s about the neighborhood not being notified that it would be going in.
City Council President Kyle Lobner thinks if they force a move, the city’s reputation would take a hit in the arts community.
