Interesting times we live in.
Remember in the Brady Bunch episode ‘Hawaii Bound’ (’72) (part 1 of a 2-part episode ‘Bad Taboo’)?
Mr. Brady (Mike) takes the family to Honolulu, Hawaii because… architecture… I guess??
Anyhoo, Bobby and Peter find a tiki idol on a construction site and think its ‘cool’ and take it for good luck. One of the locals notices them take it – and it’s kinda a big deal -cultural appropriations aside- because the tiki idol is actually bad luck and then tarantulas, bad wipe-outs and the such follow the Bunch like grim death. You really need to watch it.
Where were we?
Oh yeah!
So, a guy from Israel -15 years ago as a high schooler – stole a 2000 year old catapult bolt – basically a round stone from a historical site at The City of David National Park. But because of the ‘end of days’ happing outside our collective doors, he had a soul-reevaluation, a cleansing of the conscience, if you will – and decided to return it to its proper place.
Cue Indiana Jones growling, “It belongs a museum!!”
*Full Disclosure* The reluctant thief used an ‘in-between’ to deliver the stone back home in case the cultural officers decided to arrest him for his thievery. So he kinda’ faced the consequence of his actions just like Peter and Bobby. Did he learn an eventual lesson? Sure…
But it does makes you wonder how many long-overdue conversations, confessions and revelations will happen in the porceeding weeks.
Seems a global pandemic is just the panacea for a clear conscience.
