International Astronaut and Canadian national treasure Chris Hadfield is VERY experienced in the art of ‘Self-Isolation’ (see space). Hadfield served as commander of the International Space Station and spent a total of 166 days in space, living with cramped conditions and limited social contact. Sound familiar yet?
Here, he gives us four (4) tips to successfully navigating ‘self-containment’.
Understand the actual risk. People should look to credible sources to find out the real level of risk that they personally are facing.
What’s your mission? Decide what they hope to achieve and what they want to get done.
Look at your constraints. Along with being isolated from others, begin thinking of things like financial resources and your obligations.
Take action. Taking care of family members, volunteering, learning an instrument, studying a language, reading, writing, or any other activity. “It’s a chance to do something different,” Hadfield said.
