So now to a story from the land down under, we go to Australia and Barry Phillip Siecker, 29. Barry was charged with aggravated assault over an attack he perpretrated against Matt Eberhart – which took place in public front of shocked onlookers.
The court was told Mr Siecker (citing racial reasons) took issue with the street busker, who performs under the name Banana Man but was wearing a pencil costume at the time of the attack. Maybe he took umbrage with the banana/pencil bait-n-switch or doesn’t like phallic objects that are yellow.
Quoting a court magistrate, “In an unprovoked fashion, he took the ukulele off him and smashed it on the floor,” he said. He also assaulted the victim and hit him on the head, causing two quite significant gashes along his forehead.”
And to answer the Road Show question, “High on What?”
The court also heard the accused had a methamphetamine (ding ding ding) dependence, borderline personality disorder traits and has symptoms of psychosis. So attacking a performing banana/pencil on the street is just part of his unique ‘a peel’.
