Jackson Browne is urging his fans that, if something doesn’t feel right, tell your doctor and stay home. The singer says he’s glad he listened to his gut because he tested positive for COVID-19.
The 71-year-old revealed, “As soon as I had a small cough and a temperature, I tested [for COVID-19],” but assured fans that his condition is manageable. “My symptoms are really pretty mild, so I don’t require any kind of medication and certainly not hospitalization or anything like that,” he added, further explaining that he doesn’t know exactly how or when he caught the contagious virus.
The “Doctor My Eyes” artist referenced his mild symptoms and lamented that is most likely the reason why some continue to ignore the increasing calls from health officials to practice social distancing and stay home as much as possible.
“They don’t have symptoms, but they might have it and might be able to pass it on,” says Browne. “That’s what younger [people] need to understand: They need to take part in the global response to stop the spread. That means not going anywhere, not getting into contact with anybody, not seeing anybody.”
The six-time Grammy Award nominated singer is taking his diagnosis very seriously. “The prognosis for what to do once you test positive is pretty much the same as if you don’t test positive, which is to stay put,” He tells Rolling Stone. “And stay self-quarantined. Don’t expose anybody. Don’t go anywhere.”
