Two Appleton police officers are being honored nationally for their actions, during a shootout outside of the downtown transit center.
Officer Paul Christensen and Sgt. Chris Biese will receive a “TOP COP” award from the National Association of Police Organizations.
Christensen and Biese fired at a suspect about 20 times, after the man shot Firefighter Mitch Lundgaard last spring.
Capt. Polly Olson says only 10 officers in the country were picked.
Hundreds of officers were nominated for acts of heroism.
Lundgaard died from his wounds last May 16th.
