Each Christmas season, local singer-songwriter Christopher Gold gathers a group of musician friends to celebrate the songs of other great singer-songwriters, and more importantly, gather toys and monetary donations for Harbor House Domestic Abuse Programs in Appleton. And each year, amazing visual artist Chad Brady (the man responsible for most of the delightful murals in Appleton ie: Bowie on State Street, the walls inside Cozzy Corner, et al.) paints a pic of the featured musician and they auction it for the charity.
This past year, the featured singer-songwriter was the legendary John Prine, who passed this week. My friend Marc was the winning bidder (as he’s been most years).
Thanks to Marc and Chad for giving me permission to share a photo of Chad’s wonderful likeness that, with his paint brush, really captures a piece of John Prine’s soul…without even having to steal it.
