The state Department of Corrections has released more than 1,900 people since the onset of the coronavirus pandemic in Wisconsin.
Secretary Kevin Carr says 1,100 of them were in county jails. Another 700 inmates were let go through the earned release program.
There are still more than 23,000 people in Wisconsin’s prison system.
