Construction on two bridges along I-41 in Grand Chute could lead to major backups.
DOT spokesman Mark Kantola says they need to remove the old metal railings on the bridges over Gillett Street, and a set of railroad tracks. Workers will put in concrete barriers instead, to prevent semis and large trucks from going over the edge during a crash.
Kantola says I-41 will be down to one lane in both directions. He recommends drivers use Highway 441 if they’re driving through the Fox Cities.
The project is expected to continue into early July, between the Northland Avenue and Richmond Street exits.
