People concerned about having COVID-19 are answering more questions, when they call 911 and ask for an ambulance.
De Pere Fire Chief Alan Matzke says they want to prepare first responders. Unless it’s an emergency, first responders won’t go into a home. Responders will wear masks, gloves, and other protective gear.
Dr. Steve Stroman is the department’s medical director, and he says they’ll try to meet the caller outside.
He says if patients are stable, they’ll get information about coronavirus, and how to take care of themselves at home. If someone needs to go to a hospital, crews will take every precaution to keep everybody safe.
