The state Supreme Court will hear arguments in a pair of lawsuits seeking to reign in the governor’s partial veto power.
The cases could determine if the governor can unilaterally change final spending figures in state budgets. In the first case, three taxpayers are looking to overturn four of the governor’s partial vetoes in the current budget. They argue Evers illegally created new laws the Legislature never intended.
In the other case, Wisconsin Small Business United is challenging some of former Governor Scott Walker’s vetoes in the last budget that changed dates.
