The state is sending out retroactive payments for unemployment.
Lawmakers eliminated the one-week waiting period to get benefits as part of the state’s response plan. Anyone filing for unemployment during or after the week of March 15th will get that retroactive payment.
The state Department of Workforce Development is also now accepting unemployment applications from the self-employed, independent contractors and part-time workers. The federal government is providing funding to give people up to $370 a week.
