The DOT is working on traffic projections, and the environmental report, for the proposed I-41 expansion between the Appleton area and De Pere.
The agency held an online community meeting yesterday, with an update on the progress.
Project Manager Scott Ebel says they need to look at different options, including a six-lane interstate. He says they also have to evaluate all of the interchanges, to see if they need to be redesigned or rebuilt with safety improvements.
Ebel says they’ll also study keeping the stretch of I-41 at two lanes, with safety improvements and auxiliary lanes.
