Queen, in association with The Mercury Phoenix Trust, will present a YouTube screening of 1992’s Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert in support of the COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund for the World Health Organization.
The original concert took place on April 20th, 1992 at London’s Wembley Stadium and featured Queen along with David Bowie, George Michael, Annie Lennox, Elton John, Guns N’ Roses, Robert Plant, Metallica, Liza Minelli, Def Leppard, Seal, Roger Daltrey and others. It was the last large scale live event Queen did with their original bassist, John Deacon.
The screening premieres this Friday, May 15, 2020 at 1pm CT as part of the ongoing fight with COVID-19, with all donations supporting the World Health Organization. Google.org is matching $2 for every $1 donated. The fundraiser will continue through June 30th, but the concert will only be available for 48 hours.
