Are you cheating on your significant other… in your dreams?
A new survey of 1000 people from the website Well + Good revealed that, along with covid-induced nightmares, 42 percent say they’ve had vivid sexual or romantic dreams, and 21 percent (64 percent of whom are women) say they’re having vivid dreams about their exes indication that dream-cheating is on the rise.
Certified dream analyst, Lauri Loewenberg, says, “Cheating dreams are very common, but it is usually the dreamer that is getting cheated on in their dreams. Since COVID-19 began, I’ve been seeing more dreams where the dreamer is the cheater. And the most common person people have been cheating with in their dreams is their ex.”
Loewenberg goes on to say that, the constant togetherness we’re all under – some couples for the first time together, often signifies that you feel particularly bound to someone in close quarters, and that you could use a novel change. We’re seeking this change – even in a nocturnal way – possibly due to changing dynamics in the relationship stemming from a switch from romantic partners to roomate status of the coupling.
I personally don’t consider dream-cheating, cheating. But if you’re brave enough to actually TELL your partner/spouse that you’re having these types of dreams, maybe another conversation should take place because obviously there’s a subliminal element to these dreams that’s tickling your unconsciousness in a way that real life isn’t.
