Metallica’s James Hetfield has been busy for the last two months learning a new talent. The musician has been restoring classic cars for years, but now he is using the welding skills to create home decor.
Hetfield has built a pair of one-of-a-kind coffee tables that he is calling “The Covid Collection by JH”. Each entry in the raffle cost $10 with all the proceeds benefiting All Within My Hands Foundation and the band’s work supporting the welding programs funded by Metallica Scholars initiative. The contest ends Tuesday, June 30th. One lucky winner will receive the set, signed and personalized by James.
For several fans, the table collection reminds them of Lulu, the 2011 collaboration that Metallica did with Lou Reed. “The View”, the first single off the album, contained the lyrics “I am the table” which quickly became a meme that Hetfield said he love and that he found funny. If you don’t remember, let us remind you with the video below.
Between the band’s Metallica Monday concert series and other charitable events, Metallica has been busy trying to keep their fans entertained for the past few months. One of the recent fun competitions that the band has started is their Some Kind Of Bracket Challenge where fans pick their favorite Metallica song. The first round of the competition ended on June 4th with the second round underway now.
