Yesterday’s Black Lives Matter protest in Green Bay included the family of a man killed in police custody two years ago.
Jonathan Tubby was arrested on a felony warrant during a traffic stop, and he didn’t have a weapon.
His cousin Danielle Karl says family and friends marched for the first time since his death to protest racial injustice. She says when they see injustices, it reopens their wounds from Tubby’s death, and it starts to fester again.
The Brown County District Attorney didn’t file any criminal charges against officers.
Green Bay Police Chief Andrew Smith says Tubby’s death was a tragedy. He says the officers tried several methods to deescalate the situation, before using lethal force.
Tubby’s family is suing the city and police department.
