Four people were killed and seven hurt this morning after a series of crashes on I-39 North, near Lodi, in southcentral Wisconsin.
Eight cars were in the worst chain-reaction wreck.
The State Patrol says it started just after 4 a.m., when a semi rear-ended another one, at the Highway 60 exit. No one was hurt.
About an hour later, a pickup truck crashed into that scene, seriously injuring a Columbia County highway worker, and two state troopers. All three were taken to a hospital.
Troopers say the worst crash happened a little later, when a semi driver didn’t slow down and smashed into seven other vehicles — two semis, a dump truck, and four cars.
