A top Republican in the Assembly thinks the recording of a call isn’t a personnel issue, but potentially a legal one.
Governor Evers isn’t releasing the name of the person who recorded last month’s call with Assembly Speaker Robin Vos, and Senate Majority Leader Scott Fitzgerald.
Assembly Majority Leader Jim Steineke tells Focus Fox Valley what it boils down to, is if Evers, his chief of staff, and chief legal counsel, know anything about it, they can step up and do so. But he says they’ve been unwilling to do that, to this point.
The nonpartisan Legislative Reference Bureau says unless those three people recorded it, or told someone else to do that, it could be a felony.
Steineke thinks Republican leaders should ask prosecutors to investigate.
