Appleton’s police department is setting up an advisory board.
Chief Todd Thomas says members of the board will get to weigh in on any idea or new program the police department is considering. Thomas says he has thought about this for a long time. He feels the timing is right after the death of George Floyd and the protests that followed. Applications for the board will be accepted through July 4th. Thomas hopes to have between 15 and 25 volunteers on a rotating basis. He wants them to be of diverse background, race, political affiliation and even job titles.
