At least 165 people in Wisconsin have died from the flu, since the beginning of the year.
Tom Haupt of the state Department of Health Services thinks that number is grossly underestimated, because people weren’t getting tested.
Before the coronavirus pandemic hit, he considered the flu season to be moderate to severe. He says that was especially the case for young people and pregnant women.
Haupt says before the pandemic, the number of people 50 and under that were hospitalized for the flu was the highest they’ve ever seen.
