Governor Evers wants people to celebrate the Fourth of July at home, and avoid large gatherings.
He posted a video today, saying over the past week, there have been increases in the number of new cases. He says they need everyone, including young adults, to do their part to keep their families, neighbors, and communities healthy.
Evers was wearing a mask in the video, and he’s calling on people to wear them in public.
The state Department of Health Services says contact tracers are linking the spike in coronavirus cases in younger people to bars and gatherings.
Nearly 20 percent of the state’s cases throughout the pandemic have come over the past two weeks. Twenty-three percent of those cases are people in their 20s. That’s compared to 11 percent in early April.
