When the flu season hits, public health experts are preparing for a growing need for coronavirus testing.
Department of Health Services Secretary Andrea Palm says if people get a flu shot, that would help prevent cases of that illness. She says some of the symptoms are similar, and they’ll need to test everyone for COVID-19.
Palm says some of the symptoms of the common cold are also the same, so people could also find out they have that, after getting their test results.
Palm says getting the flu vaccine would also help take some of the burden off local public health departments, so they can focus more on dealing with coronavirus.
