The leader of a statewide group understands a small grant isn’t going to make farmers whole, but it will help.
Governor Evers is using federal stimulus money to give $3,500 to almost 12,000 farmers.
Wisconsin Farm Bureau Federation President Joe Bragger says the grants could help farmers keep the lights on for another month, or pay some bills.
Evers put $50 million toward the grants, and about $8.5 million is left over. He’s starting a second round of grants, and farmers can apply, starting August 10th.
Bragger also hopes the federal government will do more to help the agriculture industry.
