The plans from the Appleton school district for the fall include a requirement that all students wear masks, when they’re in school buildings.
Appleton Public Health Officer Kurt Eggebrecht supports the rule. He says they’re learning more about the importance of masks in preventing the spread of coronavirus.
Eggebrecht thinks if parents set an example for their children by also wearing masks, the in-school rule can work.
The school board agreed to have Early Learning through fourth grade in classrooms five days a week. Fifth through 12th graders can be in schools two days a week, with three days of online classes.
Parents can also choose to have virtual learning five days a week.
