The new supergroup, The Wheelblocks, featuring Fozzy’s Chris Jericho on vocals, Alice Cooper guitarist Nita Strauss, former Machine Head and current Vio-Lence guitarist Phil Demmel, Avenged Sevenfold bassist Johnny Christ, and Three 6 Mafia drummer Josh V have released a cover of Iron Maiden’s “Aces High”. Chris Jericho said that he’s been doing what everyone has been doing during the lockdown, hooking up with different musicians and putting together different kinds of supergroups.
“Once again in the middle of a pandemic, I had the honor of getting together with some amazing musicians to play a cover of one of my favorite bands best songs! ‘Aces High’ is not only one of the hardest vocals I’ve ever had the pleasure of singing in a studio, they were even harder to record while I was flying a fighter plane! As a result, I think the power (slave) of this song fits perfectly into the hard rock world of today and I’m excited to see ‘Aces High’ fly as high up the charts as the protagonist of the song itself! So head up the runway, let off a shot burst and UP THE WHEELBLOCKS!”
Jericho said that Phil Demmel called him asked if he wanted to sing a version of “Aces High” with Nita Strauss and Josh V. Jericho said he had been talking to Johnny Christ and suggested that he play bass and that’s how this all came together.
The Wheelblocks isn’t the only supergroup that Chris Jericho has formed. He has also hooked up with Trixter bassist P.J. Farley, guitarist Joe McGinness and drummer Kent Slucher to create a KISS cover band named Kuarantine.
