Oshkosh may no longer be known as “Wisconsin’s Event City.”
Assistant City Manager John Fitzpatrick says they’re working with the Convention and Visitors Bureau on “re-branding.” He says experts recommend that communities revisit their brands periodically, to make sure they still reflect the identity of a city or area.
Oshkosh branded itself as “Wisconsin’s Event City” a decade ago, playing on its status as the host of the EAA AirVenture, Country and Rock USA, Lifest, and hundreds of other smaller events throughout the year.
Tonight, the Oshkosh Common Council will vote to apply for a state grant to cover some of the $350,000 “re-branding” cost.
