A special bipartisan task force is making a series of recommendations to lower student debt.
Governor Evers created the group.
One proposal would target for-profit colleges that charge high tuition rates, with promises of jobs after graduation. Democratic Sen. Dave Hansen of Green Bay says often times, that’s not true.
The recommendations also include reinstating a state board to oversee for-profit colleges in Wisconsin.
The group is calling for a student debt tax credit, and an increase in state funding for the UW System to offset tuition increases, as well.
