Appleton’s city council is making it illegal to specifically call 911 and make a false report, based on a person’s race, religion or sexual orientation.
The fine is $200 dollars, and repeat offenders would have to pay $400.
The council is also shifting some properties north of College Avenue into a different TIF district.
The sites have been in District 3, and it was declared a “distressed TIF” in 2011, because the value of Richmond Terrace dropped. The city also can’t include TIF incentives for any other properties.
They’re now in the 11th district, joining sites along College Avenue.
