The head of Prevea Health says a statistic on coronavirus deaths is spreading on social media like wildfire.
Dr. Ashok Rai tells Action 2 News the six percent they’re talking about is when COVID-19 is the only diagnosis listed on a death certificate. He says that’s pretty rare, because most of the time someone passes away, there are multiple factors involved in that.
He says usually, the things that would be listed could be COVID-19, diabetes, high blood pressure and obesity.
But Rai says people with underlying health conditions that increase their risk of dying from coronavirus probably would’ve lived a lot longer, if they hadn’t caught it.
