For the past 10 years, it’s been illegal to throw away electronics in Wisconsin.
State E-Cycle Program Coordinator Sarah Murray says since then, people have recycled 325 million pounds of TVs, computers, phones, and other items. She says they’ve also seen more permanent drop-off sites open, and organizations holding single-day events.
Yesterday was the 10th anniversary of the start of the program.
Murray says their surveys have shown some people know they can’t throw their old electronics in the garbage, and they hold onto them. She encourages them to go to the E-Cycle website and find a drop-off location.
