Governor Evers says he told President Trump and Democrat Joe Biden that he didn’t want them to come to Kenosha for campaign events.
The governor says he stated his position very clearly, including his concerns over spreading coronavirus. Evers sent a letter to President Trump before Tuesday’s visit. He says he talked with former Vice President Joe Biden on the phone, after Biden had already made his decision.
Evers doesn’t want their campaign stops to make it more difficult to fight the virus. He raised concerns about Trump’s talk with law enforcement, because people weren’t wearing masks after Trump invited everyone to take them off.
One of the governor’s cabinet members, Revenue Secretary Peter Barca, was at Biden’s event at the church. He’s a former Democratic state lawmaker from Kenosha.
